I’ve been obsessing with the idea of art journaling skulls for ages but finally just got my stash out and did it – and I really love what I have created!
The first page I used black primer and used my favourite Posca Pens to draw the skull and doodles. I added a few gems as well.
The second page I had a background already sprayed and drew a skull shape with a pencil first before going in with my pens again. I used some die cut flowers and punched leaves and hearts which I love.
These large bulldog clips are great for art journaling – as your journal gets fatter it can be tricky to get the fresh pages to stay flat. I highly recommend these!
A little while ago someone suggested to me that I do a tutorial on how I create my doodle pages in my journal, which I thought would be kinda fun! So this is a post on my own way of doodling.
Here are two new pages I have been working on. The first one I started yesterday and had no idea what I was going to make. I started some journalling on the left but the camera doesn’t pick up the blue shimmery pen I used. This was very organic and I played with mixed textures of paper, paint and pen.
The next page started off as just experimenting with some watercolours a friend gave me. This paper isn’t great for water and I didn’t intend to put so much colour on the page, but I don’t use watercolours much. I then stamped across it and used a black marker to add some definition. I actually like the way it turned out and the colours. I rarely go for blue and green. I am really loving this art journaling, I am even planning pages in my mind as I type this!
